GDPR

Posted 28 Apr 2018

The EU's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) goes into effect on 25 May 2018. I support this regulation, but it's going to disrupt a lot of people and businesses who have not been thinking about privacy, permissions or data management.
Who does the GDPR affect? The GDPR not only applies to organisations located within the EU but it will also apply to organisations located outside of the EU if they offer goods or services to, or monitor the behaviour of, EU data subjects. It applies to all companies processing and holding the personal data of data subjects residing in the European Union, regardless of the company’s location.

What constitutes personal data? Any information related to a natural person or ‘Data Subject’, that can be used to directly or indirectly identify the person. It can be anything from a name, a photo, an email address, bank details, posts on social networking websites, medical information, or a computer IP address.
On this page, I clarify my use or collection of personal data on aguanomics.com, which is hosted by blogger.com, a subsidiary of google.com.

Blogger tracks visitor information, including country of origin, browser software, operating system, referring URL, and referral keywords. I do not have any control over this collection.

As of January 2018, I have removed all google analytics tracking codes from this site (they give more detail than blogger), as I was fed up with the whole data mining and brokerage industry.
