A year later and still worth a read...

The private-public cycle -- how politicians like to shift blame for price increases onto "greedy" private water companies and then take credit for their service improvements.

People choose their paths -- a long post, with lots of comments, discussing the different ways economists and engineers see water issues. A semi-related post, Craig Wilson is wrong about ag water use, started that debate. Read it first.

The economics of coffee -- interesting because it was an example of an Italian trying to rip me off. Not sure their financial and political troubles were the DIRECT result of such behavior, but there's a correlation...
