- Must read: "From King Coal to Carbon Tax: A Historical Perspective on the Energy and Climate-Change Debate" offers some insights on possible changes (carbon tax) and unlikely events (reduction in energy consumption).
- Related: Pennsylvania is the only state not taxing shale gas extractions and will soon be exporting gas to other states. This political fail needs to change: tax shale gas and use the revenues to protect land, water and people. Higher prices will not have a strong impact on demand, since PA is one of the lowest-cost producers.
- The irony! Music Rights Groups Raided by Police, Bosses Arrested for Fraud [stealing from artists they were supposed to protect]
- President Obama’s economic “stimulus” did very little, if anything, to stimulate the economy, and a whole lot to stimulate the debt. Republicans may think this headline serves them, except the first stimulus happened on their watch (after a political failure under their President).
- Treehugger is SO pleased that Denmark puts only 3 percent of trash in the landfill. Treehugger fails to investigate the capital cost of waste facilities or their energy footprint (no idea if incineration generates >100% of requirements but doubt it). Cost-benefit from Copenhagen, anyone?
