- A scientist falsified data to link vaccination to autism. He (and his lawyer friends) should be in jail for murder -- children have died of measles and other viruses that they could have been immunized against.
- Stop Press! Peanut butter was invented by a Quebecois?!?
- Carbon capture fail -- injected CO2 is coming back up, making ponds fizz, killing animals and causing explosions. Is anyone surprised that 6,000 tons per day of injected CO2 is going to cause problems?
- Lynn Kiesling is mad that the TSA is violating our privacy without increasing our security, but she's also found the obvious reason for this: security firms lobbying congress to buy their expensive (and useless) machines. Double fail. (Similar story: Comcast paid lawmakers to approve its NBC purchase. Buy government money can buy!)
- One hundred thousand African farmers used sustainable farming practices to get more yield at lower cost in an FAO study. Cost to roll out to 500,000 farmers? $50 million. WIN! In 2011, the USDA will spend DOUBLE that subsidizing exports [pdf] that lower the prices these farmers receive. FAIL.

Re carbon capture: whether this is a surprise I can’t say, but given the, what I’ll call near hysteria, regarding climate change, I expect many negative outcomes, some of which are likely to be worse than the purported problem. See also ethanol.
