Travelblog: Indonesia photos II

In the next few days, I'm going to post a few photos for those of you interested my observations from my travel in Indonesia, Australia, New Zealand and Fiji (Indonesia, Part I).

Part III: Crops

These guys are harvesting seaweed...

Rice paddy. I love rice paddy (and rice!)

More! (see below for the water temples...)

More!

Part IV: Temples

This is the famous water temple ("Pura Ulun") on Danu Bratan, on Bali. They charge an admission fee

This is the less famous, but perhaps more important temple Pura Ulun Danu Batur, the one discussed in Priests and Programmers (my review).

Here's one (a few?) of the relevant water deities.

The view of Danu Batur (The temple was moved to the top of the crater after an eruption almost buried it.)

Here's a small shrine at the headgate of a paddy. The temple has to allow water to flow, and the ceremony takes place there.

This temple was just beautiful.

Spring with gods

This is the drainage system for Borobudur, on Java

And here are some tourists, not enjoying the rain :)

SS emails: "Where should we build our water temple(s) in CA? Dams and pipelines are just not very spiritual..."
