- The end-of-year double-issue of the Economist always has amazing articles:
- Migration and the American Dream
- Socrates, debate and American media
- Rice in Japan
- Crony capitalism in China
- Being a foreigner
- Why businesses will save the world
- Newspapers will survive, again
- Religion as an evolutionary outcome
- Migration and the American Dream
- What's wrong with America? A lot of people act like idiots, and a lot of people make a living encouraging that behavior.
- The tension between development (dams) and preserving the environment in Brazil.

Re "Migration and the American Dream": How joyful should we be that we're continuing to increase our population and in 2100 there could be one billion people in America? We should be worried, not joyful. That situation is far more likely to end up subverting the dreams of Americans rather than nurturing the achievement of those dreams.
